ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(CHALTON: BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC NO 10 AND FOOTPATH NO 11)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2021
Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot or on horseback or lead a horse or cycle or motorised vehicle along the whole length of Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT) No 10 Chalton which extends from its junction with Sundon Road at Ordnance Survey Grid reference (OSGR) TL 0411 2613 (map point A), generally south-eastwards to its junction with Camford Way, Luton at OSGR TL 0454 2598 (map point B) and the whole length of Footpath No 11, Chalton which extends from its junction with BOAT No 10 (map point B), eastwards to the Luton boundary at OSGR TL 0467 2603 (map point C).
These temporary closures are required to enable for major infrastructure works to be carried out in safety. The closures are expected to take place from 31st August to for six months.
There is no alternative route for BOAT and Footpath users while the closure is in operation.

The proposed Order will come into operation on 31 August 2021 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the BOAT and footpath have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
