M1 southbound junction 12 exit slip closure – resurfacing
National Highways plan to carry out resurfacing on the M1 southbound junction 12 exit slip road. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.
National Highways plan to complete this work over three nights starting on Monday 6 October 2025. They will be working between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, National Highways will need to close the M1 southbound junction 12 exit slip road., traffic will be diverted as follows:
- Drivers travelling southbound on the M1 intending to exit at junction 10 should continue southbound on the M1 towards junction 11A

- Exit at junction 11A and take the third exit at the first roundabout to continue straight onto Chalton Roundabout
- At Chalton Roundabout, take the fourth exit to rejoin the M1 northbound
- Continue northbound on the M1 and exit at junction 12 to complete your journey
