Notification of carriageway repairs, as part of the M1 junctions 10 to 13 scheme
I’m writing to tell you that we plan to carry out essential maintenance on the M1 between junction 10 (Luton South) and junction 13 (Milton Keynes South).
Our work will involve carrying out repairs to CCTV and variable message signs, which are used to assist with the management of traffic on the motorway. Our control centre operators monitor the motorway for incidents, allowing us to manage these events and maintain the network.
To carry out this work safely, we’ll need to close the between 10pm and 5am when traffic levels are at their lowest. Each closure will have fully signed diversion routes in place. Please find below the closure information:
We’re also working with colleagues across National Highways to ensure that the work is coordinated alongside other maintenance work being done, so that we minimise disruption to the public.
Please note these are provisional dates which may be subject to change due to conditions outside of our control, such as adverse weather or road incidents. We’ll update our website accordingly with any changes, which can be accessed via our scheme website.
Drivers are asked to follow the signed diversion routes during these road closures. Please do not use satellite navigation (sat nav) when following the diversion, as they may give conflicting information. Please be considerate of residents living along the diversion routes when using these roads when the M1 is closed.
Diversion timings are approximate and are a guide only: please check Traffic England (www.trafficengland.co.uk) for current traffic conditions. A map of the diversion routes can be found on the scheme website.
We’ll do all we can to keep disruption to a minimum, but we anticipate delays during peak times, so we’re encouraging drivers to plan their journeys. We’re sorry for the disruption and inconvenience this may cause to your journeys. We’d encourage drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling.
