Our Countryside Needs You: Speak Up Before It’s Too Late: A notice from CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England)
The government has published its draft National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) – an important document that guides what gets built where and how – and announced a major consultation. This is our chance to collectively influence national planning policy.
Our main concerns in the new NPPF are proposals to:
Weaken Green Belt protections and allow speculative development
Erase safeguards for ‘valued landscapes’, the everyday countryside outside of officially protected areas
No guarantee for minimum levels of affordable housing in rural areas
We’ve made it easy for you and provided guidelines on what you could say. Visit our website for instructions on how you can respond to the consultation before the deadline on 10 March.
| Respond to the consultation |
We’ll be submitting our own CPRE response too, but we can’t do this without you. We need thousands of people up and down the country to show the government why we should protect the Green Belt and other valued landscapes, alongside providing minimum levels of rural affordable housing to tackle the housing crisis.

Thank you for your support,
