Transformer delivery to National Grid Sundon Saturday 21 October 2023
National Grid has written to Chalton Parish Council to confirm that a supergrid transformer delivery will be taking place overnight on the evening of Saturday 21 October.
The transformer will be delivered on a specialist vehicle that will arrive along Luton Road via the M1 motorway junction 12. The delivery will include a police escort. NG don’t anticipate the delivery will cause any disruption, they would kindly request that residents use their driveways and avoid parking on the street or pavement along Water End Lane and its junction with Luton Road.
Work to put the transformer safely into temporary storage will then continue on Sunday 22. The equipment will be stored at the Sundon substation ahead of being used for another project in Surrey planned for next year.
