Notice from National Grid Sundon substation upgrade: transformer delivery, Saturday 1 July
We’re writing to keep you updated as we continue to upgrade our Sundon substation, to the north of the existing site. There will be a supergrid transformer delivery taking place at around midnight on the evening of Saturday 1 July. Work to install it will then continue on Sunday 2 July.
The transformer will be delivered on a specialist vehicle that will arrive along Luton Road via the M1 motorway junction 12.
While we don’t anticipate the delivery will cause any disruption, we would kindly request that residents use their driveways and avoid parking on the street or pavement along Water End Lane and its junction with Luton Road.
The new supergrid transformer will allow our expansion project to connect three low carbon energy sources to the network at the same time, bringing benefits to energy consumers locally and nationally.
